Jane Leppmets, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that compared with October 2023, the growth in foreign trade in October 2024 was the highest this year. “Re-exports of goods increased by 5% in October, while exports of goods of Estonian origin grew by as much as 17%. The share of goods of Estonian origin in total exports was also up from October last year, accounting for 66% in October 2024. According to Statistics Estonia, accommodation establishments served over 293,000 tourists in May 2024, which is 11% more than in May last year. There were more domestic as well as foreign tourists accommodated.

Robert Müürsepp, team lead of national accounts at Statistics Estonia, said that the preliminary estimate shows signs of improvement in the Estonian economy in the fourth quarter of last year. “There was no more major recession, as the seasonally and working-day adjusted GDP remained unchanged from the third quarter of 2024. The corrections are marked in red. Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that the rise in the consumer price index in January, both compared to December and the same month last year, was mainly due to food products, beverages, and motor vehicle tax. “On the other hand, the index was driven down by the sales on clothing in January and by international flights and holiday trips,” added Veski. Among food products, the biggest increases compared with December 2024 were registered in the prices of fish (31%), whole milk (12%) and fresh vegetables (7%)

The production value of Estonian construction enterprises in 2024 was 3.9 billion euros, including 2.4 billion euros’ worth of building construction and 1.5 billion euros’ worth of civil engineering. According to Statistics Estonia, 713.5 tonnes of pesticides by active substance were placed on the market in Estonia in 2023, which is a tenth less than in 2022 and less than in the four previous years as well. The majority of pesticides sold were again herbicides.
