777 tonnes of pesticides by active substance were placed on the market in Estonia in 2022, which is a sixth less than in 2021 and less than in 2020 as well. The majority of pesticides sold were again herbicides.

According to Statistics Estonia, 154,000 tourists stayed in Estonian accommodation establishments in September, with a total of 285,000 nights spent. The number of tourists decreased by nearly a half year on year.

According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the second quarter of 2022, Estonia’s exports of services grew by 32% while imports of services fell by 5% year on year. In the second quarter of this year, Estonia’s exports of services totalled 2.5 billion euros and imports of services 1.8 billion euros.

According to Statistics Estonia, in June, the total production of industrial enterprises increased by 0.4% at constant prices compared with June 2021. Output increased in two of the three sectors – by 18.4 in electricity production and by 28.9% in mining –, but fell by 2.5 in manufacturing.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the fourth quarter of 2022, there were 11,289 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This is 1.7% more than in the same quarter of 2021. Fewer than 7,000 persons left their job at the initiative of the employer.

Jane Leppmets, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that exports of goods increased in September and in the third quarter overall. “Although re-exports fell by 1% in September, the rise in total exports was driven by the 4% increase in exports of goods of Estonian origin. The share of goods of Estonian origin in total exports grew by one percentage point year on year, reaching 64%” added Leppmets. There was a significant rise in trade with non-EU countries. According to Statistics Estonia, exports of goods in 2023 decreased by 16% and imports by 17% compared with the year before. Exports of goods amounted to 18 billion and imports to 21 billion euros at current prices. The trade deficit was 3 million euros, which is 695 million euros lower than in 2022.
