According to Statistics Estonia, in the midnight of 31 March the pilot Census of the 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011) came to an end, in the course of which, according to preliminary data, a total of 12,531 persons were enumerated. For the first time, the people could enumerate themselves via the Internet.

In trade with non-EU countries, exports declined by 10% while imports grew by 16%. Year on year, there were decreased exports from Estonia to the United States, Russia and Singapore, and increased imports from Turkey and Switzerland,” explained Leppmets. According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2013 compared to October of the previous year, the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises increased 7% at constant prices. In September the retail sales increased 4% compared to the same month of the previous year, while in October the retail sales growth accelerated to some extent.

According to Statistics Estonia, in February 2012, 152,000 tourists stayed in the accommodation establishments of Estonia. The number of both domestic and foreign tourists increased by 6% compared to February of the previous year.

According to the data of the 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011), 70% of private households live in dwellings with all basic amenities. In the 2000 census, that share was 65%. The availability of comfort characteristics in the dwellings inhabited by households has improved significantly in the last decade.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2010, the average gross monthly earnings per employee were 819 euros and the median was 688 euros.
