Main events in the history of Estonian statistics 2024 Statistics Estonia focuses on reducing the administrative burden to save time for respondents. As a result , Estonia becomes the first EU country where enterprises engaged in foreign trade no longer have to report arrivals data, which decreases the reporting burden by a third, on average. 2018 was a good year in terms of film production as well as cinema attendance

According to Statistics Estonia, 34 full-length films were produced in Estonia in 2018, of which 22 were distributed in cinemas in the same year. Cinema attendance set a new record – 3.6 million visits, i.e. 275 visits per 100 inhabitants.

In September, trade increased

According to Statistics Estonia, in September 2018, the exports and imports of goods both increased by 11% compared to September 2017. The growth in trade was affected the most by an increase in trade in mineral products (fuel additives, motor spirit).

Industrial production down in July

According to Statistics Estonia, in July, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased 6.4% at constant prices compared with July 2021. Output rose in one of the three sectors – up 5.2% in electricity production – but fell 6.4% in manufacturing and 17.5% in mining.

In April, fewer tourists stayed in accommodation establishments than a year ago

According to Statistics Estonia, in April 2018, domestic and foreign tourists staying in accommodation establishments numbered 251,000, which is 3% less than in April 2017. The number of foreign tourists decreased, while the number of domestic tourists stayed at the level of the previous year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in September 2018, domestic and foreign tourists who stayed in accommodation establishments numbered 276,000, which is 2% fewer than in September 2017. Compared to September of the previous year, the number of both domestic and foreign tourists decreased.
