According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in May 2025, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists in Estonia, increased by 0.1% compared with April. Compared with May last year, the index rose by 4.6%.

How healthy are the people of Estonia?

Starting on 1 May, residents of Estonia will receive invitations to participate in the Estonian Health Interview Survey, which aims to assess the health status of the population, factors influencing it, and the use of health services. According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in April 2025, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) increased by 1.2% compared with March and by 4.4% compared with April last year.

GDP flash estimate: economy grew by 1.2% in Q1

The Dwelling Price Index continued to increase in the beginning of the year

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2019, the Dwelling Price Index changed by 5.9% compared to the 1st quarter of the previous year. In yearly comparison, the Dwelling Price Index has shown an upward trend for the past nine years. Compared to the 4th quarter of 2018, the Dwelling Price Index changed by 1.7%.

Young statistician’s grant awarded to Papuna Gogoladze

This year, the Albert Pullerits young statistician’s grant was awarded to Papuna Gogoladze for the master’s thesis defended at the School of Economics and Business Administration of the University of Tartu. The aim of the grant is to motivate young people to apply and develop statistical methods.

Population projection shows population decrease is slowing down

According to Statistics Estonia’s population projection, in 2080, there will be approximately 1.2 million people in Estonia. Over the next 60 years, the population of Estonia will decrease by 11%, in the next 25 years, by 35,800 persons, and by 2080, by 145,200 persons.

Producer price index decreased in May

In May 2019, the change in the producer price index of industrial output was -0.4% compared to April 2019 and 1.1% compared to May 2018.

The quantity of sold pesticides decreased by one-tenth last year

According to Statistics Estonia, 643 tonnes of pesticides by active substance were placed on the market in Estonia in 2018, which is 10% less than the year before.

In April, trade growth continued

According to Statistics Estonia, in April 2019, compared to April 2018, the exports and imports of goods increased by 4%. Since the beginning of the year, exports and imports have been on an upward trend compared to the same period of the previous year.

The number of job vacancies in Estonia remains over 10,000

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2019, there were approximately 11,450 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This trend has continued since the 1st quarter of 2017.

In April, the number of tourists in accommodation establishments increased

According to Statistics Estonia, in April 2019, a total of 262,000 domestic and foreign tourists stayed in accommodation establishments, which is 5% more than in April 2018. Compared to the same time, there were more domestic and foreign tourists.

Estonia’s trade flows can now be visualized

Statistics Estonia launched an application that visualizes Estonia’s trade flows, giving a better overview of trade with other countries.

A team of Estonian students ranked first in an international competition
