According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2024, the total production of industrial enterprises fell by 5.7% compared with March last year. Among the three main sectors, output increased slightly in mining (by 0.4%), but decreased by 6.5% in manufacturing and by 4.4% in electricity production.

Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that, compared with September 2023, the consumer price index was affected the most by price changes related to food and non-alcoholic beverages, motor fuel and oils, and miscellaneous goods and services. “Among food products, the biggest increases compared with September last year occurred in the prices of juices and syrups, which rose by 57.1%, and the prices of olive oil, which increased by 56.3%. According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2022, Estonia’s exports of goods increased by 35% and imports by 31% compared to March 2021. Compared to the first quarter of last year, exports grew by 30% and imports by 34%. In March and in the first quarter as a whole, trade was primarily boosted by the increased exports and imports of mineral fuels and electricity.

According to Statistics Estonia, Estonia’s exports of goods in July amounted to 1.3 billion and imports to 1.6 billion euros. Compared with July 2022, exports of goods decreased by 26% and imports by 20% at current prices. The trade deficit in July was 385 million euros, which is 42 million euros more than in the same month last year.
