According to Statistics Estonia, in January exports of goods in current prices totalled 7.2 billion kroons and imports 8.8 billion kroons. Compared to January of the previous year, exports declined by 29% and imports 36%. The decrease in value of exports and imports began already in November 2008.

According to the second estimates of Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased by 8.5% in the 3rd quarter of 2011 compared to the same quarter of the previous year. During the three quarters this year economic the growth has been stably robust.

According to Statistics Estonia, in April 2011, the exports of goods from Estonia amounted to 1.1 billion euros and imports to Estonia to 1.2 billion euros at current prices. Exports as well as imports of goods exceeded the highest turnover so far or the turnover of March this year. The growth in trade was significantly influenced by the machinery and equipment and mineral products.

According to Statistics Estonia, in May 2011 compared to the same month of the previous year, exports grew by 53% and imports by 44% at current prices. Due to a faster growth in exports compared to imports, also the foreign trade deficit decreased.

According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2010 exports of goods grew by 11% and imports declined by 3% compared to the same month of 2009. The increase in exports was mainly influenced by the steep growth in the dispatches of oil products and fuel oils.

According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2011 exports grew by 71% and imports by 45% compared to the same month of the previous year. For the first time, the total turnover of monthly trade exceeded two billion euros.
