Population and Housing Census will tell how sick Estonian people think they are

In the Population and Housing Census, which starts at the end of the year, among else, people will be able to give an assessment of their health. Health questions in the same wording were also included in the census ten years ago, which is why the results will provide an overview of Estonian people’s health and how it has changed in a decade.

General government deficit decreased last year

According to preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2013 the Estonian general government deficit was 0.2% and the gross debt level was 10% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The number of cinema visits in 2021 was the lowest in 16 years (corrected on 25.10.2022)

In 2021, there were 25 full-length films produced in Estonia, including 14 feature films and 11 documentaries. 103 short films were produced: 46 documentaries, 45 feature films, and 12 animations. 299 films were shown on cinema screens, which is 69 fewer than in 2020. The number of cinema visits fell to 1.39 million.

In the 1st quarter youth unemployment increased

According to Statistics Estonia, the unemployment rate was 10.2% in the 1st quarter of 2013. The unemployment decreased compared to the 1st quarter of the previous year but increased compared to the previous quarter. The unemployment of young people aged 15–24 increased more rapidly.

Crop farming survey

What kind of survey is it? The crop farming survey provides data about areas under cultivation and harvested areas of agricultural crops, production and yield, fertilisers, organic farming, liming, seed use, and autumn sowings of winter crops. A large part of the data are obtained from registers (for example, data on areas under cultivation received from the Agricultural Registers and Information Board and data on units that fill in the electronic field book in e-ARIB), and missing data are collected from respondents with the survey. The growth in the business sector has slowed down slightly

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2012, the net sales, costs and total profit of the business sector increased compared to the previous quarter as well as to the same quarter of the previous year. At the same time, the high comparison basis makes the growth rate slower.

Retail trade turnover fell in September

According to Statistics Estonia, in September, the turnover of retail trade enterprises was 886 million euros. Compared with September 2021, turnover decreased by 6% at constant prices.
