  Passenger transport by road and rail increased over the year

          According to Statistics Estonia, Estonian transport enterprises served nearly 222 million passengers in 2019, which is 6% more than the previous year. The carriage of passengers increased in road, rail and water transport, but decreased in air transport.

          According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2008 the usage of services of passenger transport enterprises decreased by about a tenth compared to 2007. The volume of carriage of goods decreased by a fourth compared to the previous year.

          Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that the consumer price index in May was almost unchanged compared with April but rose by 4.5% year on year. “Compared with May 2024, the index was affected the most by the 7.1% higher prices of food products.
