The next population and housing census in Estonia will, for the first time in Estonian history, take place on the basis of registers, i.e. no information is asked from people directly, the results are put together based on the data stored in state databases. This is what gave the census the name Register-Based Population and Housing Census (with the abbreviation REGREL in Estonian).

The international conference “Official Statistics in a Changing World” is taking place today in the Estonian National Opera House. According to Statistics Estonia, Estonia’s exports of goods in July amounted to 1.3 billion and imports to 1.6 billion euros. Compared with July 2022, exports of goods decreased by 26% and imports by 20% at current prices. Jane Leppmets, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that exports of goods of Estonian origin increased by 6% in November, while re-exports decreased by 2%. “The share of goods of Estonian origin in total exports was up by two percentage points in November, accounting for 66%. According to Statistics Estonia, in 2010, the production of electricity of Estonian power stations totalled nearly 13,000 gigawatt-hours, which is about a half more than a year earlier. The production of other types of fuels also increased.

Today, on 26 January, in Tallinn, Statistics Estonia holds a seminar on the gender pay gap. The seminar, called “Lahkame lõhet”, presents the results of the pay gap surveys carried out and discusses the gender pay gap both on the global scale and in terms of the situation in Estonia.

Wiesbaden Group Conference, which brings to Estonia experts of the statistical business registers from the whole world, will be held in Tallinn on 27–30 September. The conference is organised by Statistics Estonia.
