The recommendation of Statistics Estonia is to complete the e-census now, instead on waiting until the end of January when the system load will be higher and could make the enumeration process slower. In the first two weeks, more than 310,000 persons have already been enumerated in the e-census.

According to Statistics Estonia, one out of five part-time employees would like to work more hours and is ready to do that if there is such an opportunity. In 2011, there were more than 12,000 such underemployed part-time workers.

According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the second quarter of 2023, Estonia’s exports of services grew by 8% and imports by 2% at current prices compared with the same quarter of 2022. Sales of services to non-residents totalled 2.9 billion euros and purchases of services from non-residents amounted to 2.2 billion euros.

Today, 31 January is the last day when people can participate online in the current Population and Housing Census. As of 06:00 on 31 January, already 56% of the estimated population of Estonia has participated in the e-census.

Statistics Estonia has organised public procurement for the purchase of 2,332 laptops which are going to be used in the conduct of the Population and Housing Census starting in December this year. After the end of the Population and Housing Census, the procured laptops will be used by various state agencies.

Evelin Puura, the foreign trade statistics team lead at Statistics Estonia, said that trade in August was affected by the continued decline in exports and imports in trade with European Union (EU) countries. “Compared with August 2023, exports to EU countries decreased by 3% and imports from EU countries by 8%. At the same time, extra-EU exports were up by 6%,” noted Puura. Statistics Estonia presents today, on 29 July, the publication “Eesti statistika aastaraamat. 2011. Statistical Yearbook of Estonia“, which gives an overview of the life in Estonia last year in comparison with earlier years and other European Union countries.

In 2012, Statistics Estonia will collect the data from nearly 40,000 economic units. From now on, it is possible to check on the web site of Statistics Estonia whether the economic unit has been picked into the sample and has an obligation to submit the data.

According to Statistics Estonia, the first week of Agricultural Census has been successful — 1500 questionnaires have been completed in e-census and nearly 1000 questionnaires are half ready.

According to Statistics Estonia, the Agricultural Census is conducted in Estonia from 1 September to 15 November, in the course of which the data on agricultural production will be collected from nearly 30,000 holdings. For the first time it is possible to participate in the census also via Internet.
