The average working week of men is three hours longer than that of women. A half of males employed and a third of females employed work overtime. This has been proved in Statistics Estonia’s publication “Time Use of the Population of Estonia” published today.

The situation in business sector improved last year

According to preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2010 the total profit of business sector was 2.0 billion euros (30.9 billion kroons), being about two times bigger than in the previous year. At the same time the total profit decreased more than a fifth compared to 2008 and about 40% compared to the record high 2007.
More than 1,600 people participated in the census rehearsal

At the end of last year and beginning of this year, Statistics Estonia carried out the main rehearsal of the Population and Housing Census. 843 persons living at 422 addresses responded to the test survey online. Interviewers collected responses from 785 persons living at 410 addresses. The test survey response rate was 87.5% and the received feedback was generally positive.
2012 was a successful year for the business sector

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2012 the total profit of the business sector was 2.9 billion euros, which was 7% more than a year earlier. The increase of enterprise sector’s net sales, productivity and total profit continued for the third year in a row.

According to Statistics Estonia, in September 2022, Estonian accommodation establishments served nearly 260,000 tourists, which is 21% more than in September last year. The number of foreign tourists* increased while the number of domestic tourists fell.

Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that while turnover volume fell by 4% in September year on year, the decline was slightly slower in October. “The fall in the volume of retail trade turnover in October was mainly due to grocery stores, as their turnover volume decreased by 4% year on year. According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2010, the net sales, costs and total profit of the business sector increased compared to the previous quarter as well as to the same quarter of the previous year.
