In September, production decreased significantly in the electronics industry

According to Statistics Estonia, in September 2023, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased by 12.5% at constant prices compared with the corresponding month of 2022. Output fell in two sectors: by 37.6% in electricity production and by 10.9% in manufacturing. In mining, output remained almost at the same level, as the decrease was just 0.3% year on year.

The total area of utilised agricultural land did not change considerably in 2017. Production of field crops was higher than in the previous year, but a lot of production was not harvested. The number of pigs increased and the number of cattle also increased slightly. Less meat but more milk and eggs were produced than in the previous year.
Households spent more on food, housing and household equipment but cut down on other expenses

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2020, the average expenditure per household member in a month was 477 euros, which is 12 euros less than in 2019. Compulsory expenditure, i.e. unavoidable food and housing expenses in the household budget, increased by seven euros year on year.
A new indicator in foreign trade in services – mode of supply of service

While international trade in goods is based on their physical movement across borders, trade in services focuses on transactions between residents and non-residents, regardless of their location.
The number of job vacancies remains under 9,000

According to Statistics Estonia, in the last quarter of 2020, there were 8,707 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. The number decreased by 16% year on year. More than 7,000 persons left their jobs on the employer’s initiative.
The Population and Housing Census has ended

The 11th Population and Housing Census in Estonia ended at midnight on 31 March. The preliminary results will be published by 31 May the latest. The next census will be conducted in Estonia in 2021.

According to Statistics Estonia, the unemployment rate was 5.5% in 2008 and 7.6% in the 4th quarter. By counties, the annual average unemployment was the biggest in Ida-Viru county and the smallest in Pärnu county.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2024, the gross domestic product (GDP) decreased by 1% compared with the same period of 2023. The GDP at current prices amounted to €9.8 billion.
