Ülo Paulus, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that in the first quarter of this year, compared with the same period in 2024, the construction price index was primarily influenced by the 2.9% increase in employees’ wages, which accounted for 54% of the index change. “Compared with the fourth quarter of last year, labour force was 0.6% more expensive and the cost of using building machines rose by 0.3%, while the prices of building materials were down by 0.2%,” explained Paulus. According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2013, 80% of households in Estonia had access to the Internet at home. The share of such households has increased five percentage points compared to the same period of the previous year.

Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the biggest increase was registered in enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel, where turnover volume increased by 14% last year. “The volume of turnover was up by 4% in stores selling manufactured goods but decreased by 4% in grocery stores,” added Pihlak. According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2023, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased by 5.8% at constant prices compared with the corresponding month of 2022. Output fell in all three sectors: by 10.8% in electricity production, by 5.4% in manufacturing and by 2.4% in mining.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2009 63% of Estonian households had access to the Internet at home, compared to the same period of the previous year this indicator has increased five percentage points. Almost all enterprises with 10 and more persons employed had access to the Internet as in the previous three years.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2010, the net sales, costs and total profit of the business sector increased compared to the previous quarter as well as to the same quarter of the previous year.

According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the fourth quarter of 2022, Estonia’s exports of services grew by 12% and imports by 25% at current prices compared with the fourth quarter in 2021. Services were sold to non-residents for a total of 3 billion and purchased for 2.2 billion euros. The balance of foreign trade in services was therefore in surplus by 765 million euros in the fourth quarter, which is 125 million euros less than in the same period a year earlier. In 2022 as a whole, exports of services grew by 31% and imports by 19%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2020, the average expenditure per household member in a month was 477 euros, which is 12 euros less than in 2019. Compulsory expenditure, i.e. unavoidable food and housing expenses in the household budget, increased by seven euros year on year.
