Population and Housing Census will tell how sick Estonian people think they are

In the Population and Housing Census, which starts at the end of the year, among else, people will be able to give an assessment of their health. Health questions in the same wording were also included in the census ten years ago, which is why the results will provide an overview of Estonian people’s health and how it has changed in a decade.

Estonia’s representatives at the European Statistics Competition will be determined in a public choice competition

As of today, 1 July, a public choice competition is open, determining who will represent Estonia in the younger age group at the European Statistics Competition. The competition was interrupted during the emergency situation but is now continued.

The European Statistics Competition 2020, organised by the European statistical office Eurostat, takes place in 17 countries. Basic school, secondary school and vocational school students are invited to participate. The best teams in Estonia are awarded and will have the opportunity to participate in the international phase of the competition.

The focus of the global goal “Good Health and Well-being” is the quality of health, which has the most direct impact on people’s well-being. Important issues include how to improve sexual health, ensure the health of mothers and infants, prevent communicable diseases and ensure accessibility of safe, quality and affordable health care. Disease awareness must be increased and more attention must be paid to prevention. Addictions, including drug abuse and smoking must be prevented and treated more than previously.
