What kind of survey is it? The Estonian Health Interview Survey assesses the health status of the Estonian population, the factors influencing it, and the use of health services. The 2025 survey consists of two parts: the core survey, which is part of the fourth wave of the European Union Health Interview Survey and part of the official statistical programme; 18 additional voluntary questions that specify Estonia's needs in shaping health policy. Sales of pesticides down for the second year in a row

According to Statistics Estonia, 713.5 tonnes of pesticides by active substance were placed on the market in Estonia in 2023, which is a tenth less than in 2022 and less than in the four previous years as well. The majority of pesticides sold were again herbicides.

Statistical Council gave a recommendation on the organisation of the register-based census

At the meeting, the results of the second trial census of the population and housing census were presented. The Statistical Council supports the decision of Statistics Estonia to combine the register-based census with sample surveys.

Industrial producer price index rose by almost 32% year on year

In April 2022, the producer price index of industrial output, which expresses changes in the producer prices of industrial goods manufactured in Estonia for the domestic market and for export, increased by 2.8% compared to March 2022 and by 31.8% compared to April 2021.

Construction volume down by 4% in the second quarter

According to Statistics Estonia, in the second quarter of 2024, the total production value of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and abroad decreased by 4% compared with the second quarter of 2023. On the domestic construction market, volume fell by 3%.

Terje Trasberg, team lead of population and education statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that 18,634 persons immigrated to Estonia and 17,260 persons emigrated in 2024. “Last year, natural increase was negative (–6,066 people), while net migration was positive (+1,374 people). As the negative natural increase deepened compared with previous years, the positive net migration could no longer compensate for it. Therefore, the population fell by almost 5,000 people last year,” she said, adding that the last time Estonia's population declined was in 2016. There were 6,100 fewer births than
