According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the fourth quarter of 2023, Estonia’s exports of services grew by 5% and imports by 7% compared with the same quarter of 2022. Sales of services to non-residents totalled 3.1 billion euros and purchases of services from non-residents amounted to 2.3 billion euros at current prices. Total exports of services increased by 9% and imports by 8% last year.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2021, Estonia’s exports of goods increased by 28% and imports by 32% compared to 2020. In December, exports grew by 24% and imports by 27% year on year.

Jane Leppmets, foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that there was a marked decline in trade in goods in the first quarter of 2024, as exports were down by 16% and imports by 11%. “In the third quarter, imports were unchanged and there was a slight uptrend in exports. The positive trend was even more noticeable in the fourth quarter, with exports increasing by 6% and imports by 7%,” explained Leppmets. According to Statistics Estonia, in August 2019, the production of industrial enterprises decreased by 2% compared to August 2018. Production increased in manufacturing, but decreased in energy as well as in mining.

According to Statistics Estonia’s population projection, in 2080, there will be approximately 1.2 million people in Estonia. Over the next 60 years, the population of Estonia will decrease by 11%, in the next 25 years, by 35,800 persons, and by 2080, by 145,200 persons.

According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2019, the production of industrial enterprises decreased by 4% compared to October 2018. Production remained at the same level in manufacturing but decreased in energy and mining.
