Production of cereals increased year on year

The total area of utilised agricultural land did not change considerably in 2017. Production of field crops was higher than in the previous year, but a lot of production was not harvested. The number of pigs increased and the number of cattle also increased slightly. Less meat but more milk and eggs were produced than in the previous year.

Statistics Estonia: Enumerators will start visiting people from 16 February

The enumerators will visit people in the Population and Housing Census starting at the end of the year only during the period 16.02 – 31.03.2012 and present their employment certificate with a photo issued by Statistics Estonia. According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter, the unemployment rate was 3.9%, the labour force participation rate was 71.9% and the employment rate was 69%. The estimated number of employed persons was 677,300, which is 10,700 more than in the same quarter of the previous year. The number of long-term unemployed also declined.

The wide-ranging decline in industrial production continued in August

According to Statistics Estonia, in August 2023, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased by 11.9% at constant prices compared with the corresponding month of 2022. Output fell in all three sectors: by 26.2% in electricity production, by 9.3% in manufacturing and by 41.5% in mining.

According to the initial estimates of Statistics Estonia, the population number of Estonia as at 1 January 2015 was 1,312,300, which is 3,600 persons less than at the same time a year ago.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2010, the estimated number of unemployed persons was 106,000 and the unemployment rate 15.5%. Unemployment decreased for the second quarter in succession.

In fish farming, output decreased but the prices increased

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2022, fish farming enterprises sold 801 tonnes of commercial fish and crayfish, for a total of 4.9 million euros. The sale of fish roe amounted to 2.7 tonnes. The sold quantity of fish farming production decreased for the third year in a row. The quantity of fish roe sold in 2022 was 8 times smaller than the year before.
