Statistics Estonia has awarded the young statistician’s prize named after Albert Pullerits since 2011. Albert Pullerits (1892–1967) was the first director of the Estonian State Central Bureau of Statistics and the founder and developer of official statistics in Estonia. According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2021, there were 11,518 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This number increased by a third year on year. More than 8,500 persons left their jobs on the employer’s initiative.

Older women are facing greater risk of poverty

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2008 the at-risk-of-poverty rate of older women was over two times higher than that of older men. 41% of women aged 65 and older and 19% of men of the same age lived in relative poverty.

According to Statistics Estonia, in July, 346,000 tourists stayed in Estonian accommodation establishments. Their total number of nights spent was 652,000. Compared to July 2019, the number of tourists dropped by a third, but the number was higher than in the last few months.

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2021, Estonian accommodation establishments served 381,000 tourists, which is a tenth more than in the same month last year. The number of domestic tourists increased compared to both July 2020 and July 2019, while the number of foreign tourists remained significantly smaller than in previous years.
