According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2019, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased by 7.9% compared to the 1st quarter of 2018. In the 1st quarter of 2019, the average hourly gross wages and salaries were 7.90 euros, which is 7% more than in the 1st quarter of 2018.
The big Estonian population e-census, which begins at the end of the year, is largely based on register data. For reliable census results, all Estonian residents are invited in the next few months to check and, if necessary, correct population register data concerning their education, ethnicity, place of residence and contacts.
2019 was a favourable year for crop farmers, resulting in record total production as well as production per hectare. According to Statistics Estonia, the total production of cereals was 1,625,000 tonnes. The total production of potatoes was 120,500 tonnes, which is the largest in the last six years. The production of open-field vegetables was 77,000 tonnes.
According to Statistics Estonia, in 2019, the average monthly gross wages and salaries of Estonian enterprises, institutions and organisations were 1,407 euros, i.e. 7.4% higher than in 2018. The average monthly gross wages and salaries were higher in the second and fourth quarters.
