According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2024, the total production of industrial enterprises decreased by 5.8% at constant prices compared with July last year. Among the three main sectors, output increased by 16.9% in mining and by 16.3% in electricity production but decreased by 7.8% in manufacturing.

Today, Statistics Estonia releases the latest population projection for 2024–2085. Various key demographic indicators are published, including the population size of Estonia which is projected to be about 1.2 million in 2085. The population will decrease due to low fertility and population ageing.

Taking into account only Estonian construction market, construction volume increased by 18%.

Robert Müürsepp, the national accounts team lead at Statistics Estonia, said that the fourth quarter marked the end of 10 quarters of recession. “The last time the GDP grew was in the first quarter of 2022,” Müürsepp noted. In contrast to previous quarters, the majority of activities had a positive impact on the economy. “The energy sector led the way, with value added increasing by 21%. According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2019, the total production of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and foreign countries increased by 2% compared to the 1st quarter of 2018. Construction volume increased due to the work done in foreign countries. On the Estonian construction market, construction volume decreased.

On 30 December, Statistics Estonia starts a month-long test survey of the Population and Housing Census to check readiness for the big census. Around 2,000 persons are included in the main rehearsal of the population census.
