According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2019, turnover increased in most economic activities. Trade, manufacturing and information and communication enterprises contributed the most to the turnover of the business sector. The growth in the sector’s turnover was negatively affected mainly by energy and mining.

According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2017, the exports of goods increased by 15% and imports by 12% compared to March 2016. In the first quarter of this year, exports increased by 12% and imports 17%, compared the same period of 2016.

According to preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2010 the total profit of business sector was 2.0 billion euros (30.9 billion kroons), being about two times bigger than in the previous year. At the same time the total profit decreased more than a fifth compared to 2008 and about 40% compared to the record high 2007.

According to Statistics Estonia, in June, Estonia’s exports of goods amounted to 1.6 billion and imports to 1.9 billion euros. Compared with June 2022, exports of goods decreased by 14% and imports by 13% at current prices. The trade deficit in June was 271 million euros, which is 33 million euros less than in the same month last year.

Jane Leppmets, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that foreign trade in goods grew in each quarter of 2025. “Exports and imports showed the biggest growth in the first quarter, when they were up by 14% and 15%, respectively. The rate of growth was more moderate in the following quarters but still remained at 3% to 8% for exports and at 6% for imports,” she added. According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2018, the exports of goods increased by 18% and imports by 15% compared to November 2017. The trade deficit was 56 million euros. The last time the balance was under 60 million euros was in January 2015.

According to Statistics Estonia, in August 2017, the production of industrial enterprises increased 5% compared to August 2016. Production increased in mining and quarrying but decreased in the energy sector.
