In July, the consumer price index rose by 0.6% compared with June
According to Statistics Estonia, in July, the consumer price index increased by 0.6% compared with June and by 5.4% compared with July 2024. Goods were 3.9% and services 7.7% more expensive than in July last year.
Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that the consumer price index in July was up by 0.6% compared with June and by 5.4% year on year. “The last time the year-on-year change in the index was this high was in July 2023, when it stood at 6.4%. Compared with July 2024, the index was affected the most by the 9.1% higher prices of food products. The year-on-year increase in healthcare costs (10.5%) is mainly due to the price lists of healthcare services, which were updated in April,” Veski said, adding that a year-on-year fall was registered in the prices of clothing and footwear (0.9%) as well as prices related to housing (1.8%).
However, compared with June this year, housing prices have risen by 1%, including rent by 2.1%. The impact of the transport group is also quite significant in the monthly comparison, with prices rising by 1.5% month on month. In July, the price of petrol was up by 1.3% and that of diesel fuel by 4.5%, but compared with a year ago, the prices of both are still lower. The prices of clothing and footwear fell by 4.2% compared with June,” the analyst stated.
Food products were 0.5% more expensive in July than in June. Rising prices of meat and meat products (2.1%) and milk, dairy products and eggs (2.1%) contributed the most to the increase in food prices. Decreases in the prices of vegetables (2.9%) and fish and fish preparations (3.6%) had the opposite effect on the index.

The model will show the overestimation of the CPI and inflation for 2021–2025 and will indicate what the CPI would be today if the level adjustment had already been made.
