The business viability index, created in cooperation between Statistics Estonia and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, brings together data collected from annual reports and tax declarations into one unified view on the eesti.ee portal.

HICP flash estimate: prices in October did not rise compared with September

According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists, remained unchanged in October 2025 compared with September. Compared with October last year, the HICP rose by 4.5%. This is a flash estimate, which will be refined once more detailed data on October prices are received.

GDP flash estimate: economy grew by 0.9% in Q3

According to Statistics Estonia's preliminary estimate, Estonia's economy grew slightly in the third quarter of 2025. Compared with the third quarter of 2024, the gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.9%.

HICP flash estimate: prices down by 1.2% in September

According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in September 2025, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists, decreased by 1.2% compared with August. Compared with September last year, the HICP rose by 5.2%. The HICP is a flash estimate, which will be revised based on the September price data.

In October foreign trade decreased

According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2015, exports of goods decreased by 12% and imports by 13% compared to October of the previous year. The decrease in exports and imports was mostly influenced by a decrease in the trade of mineral products and electrical equipment.

Economy grew in the 3rd quarter

According to the second estimates of Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased 0.7% in the 3rd quarter of 2015 compared to the 3rd quarter of the previous year.

In the 3rd quarter, the number of job vacancies increased 3% year over year

According to Statistics Estonia, there were almost 8,900 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia in the 3rd quarter of 2015. The number of job vacancies increased by 4.8% compared to the previous quarter and by 3.3% compared to the 3rd quarter of 2014.

The annual change of the consumer price index was influenced the most by motor fuel

According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index in November 2015 was -0.3% compared to October 2015 and -0.2% compared to November of the previous year.

The profit of the business sector increased in the 3rd quarter

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2015, the total profit of the business sector was 892 million euros, which was 5% more than in the same period a year ago.

Expenditure on research and development fell last year

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2014 the expenditure on research and development (R&D) in Estonia amounted to 286.7 million euros, which was 12% less than in 2013.

In October the growth in retail sales continued

According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2015 compared to October of the previous year, the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises increased 8% at constant prices.

In October, the volume of industrial production decreased

According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2015, the production of industrial enterprises decreased 2% compared to October of the previous year. Production decreased in manufacturing, energy and mining.

Construction volumes decreased in the 3rd quarter

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2015 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the total production of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and foreign countries decreased 5%. If only the Estonian construction market is taken into account, the construction volumes decreased 10%.

In the 3rd quarter, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased almost 7% year over year

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2015, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,045 euros. Compared to the 3rd quarter of 2014, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased by 6.9%, and compared to the 2nd quarter of 2015, the average monthly gross wages and salaries decreased by 3.4%.
