According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in September 2025, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists, decreased by 1.2% compared with August. Compared with September last year, the HICP rose by 5.2%. The HICP is a flash estimate, which will be revised based on the September price data.

Construction prices rose by 1.5% last year

According to Statistics Estonia, the construction price index, which expresses the change in construction expenditures, increased by 1.5% in 2025 compared with the average of 2024. The rising cost of materials was the main reason for the increase in the construction price index.

There were 7% more foreign tourists accommodated in November

According to Statistics Estonia, accommodation establishments served 254,989 tourists in November 2025, which is 3% more than in the same month a year earlier. There were 7% more foreign tourists, but the number of domestic tourists did not increase.

The volume of retail trade turnover in November was unchanged year on year

According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2025, the turnover of retail trade enterprises was 907 million euros. Compared with November 2024, the volume of retail trade turnover remained at the same level.

In February, industrial production increased compared to the previous year

According to Statistics Estonia, in February 2015, the production of industrial enterprises increased by 5% compared to February of the previous year. Production increased in manufacturing and energy production, but decreased in mining.

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2014, the Estonian general government surplus was 0.6% and the gross debt level was 10.6% of the gross domestic product.

Last year the carriage of passengers and goods declined

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2014, the number of passengers served by Estonian transport enterprises decreased by 2% and the freight volume in tonnes decreased by 5% compared to the previous year. Passenger traffic volume increased by 6% in passenger-kilometres, but freight turnover fell 15% in tonne-kilometres.

The annual change of the Dwelling Price Index was the biggest of the last four years

According to Statistics Estonia, the Dwelling Price Index increased by 13.7% in 2014 compared to the average of 2013. In the annual comparison, the prices of apartments increased by 15.5% and the prices of houses by 9.1%.

In February, the producer price index of industrial output continued to decrease

According to Statistics Estonia, in February 2015, the producer price index of industrial output changed by -0.9% compared to January 2015 and by -2.7% compared to February 2014.

In January, the number of tourists in accommodation establishments decreased

According to Statistics Estonia, 167,000 tourists used the services of accommodation establishments in January 2015, which is 2% fewer than in January 2014. The number of foreign tourists decreased and the number of domestic tourists increased.

The Estonian economy grew 2.1% in 2014

According to Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia in 2014 increased 2.1% compared to 2013. In the 4th quarter of 2014, the Estonian economy grew 3.0% compared to the 4th quarter of 2013.

According to Statistics Estonia, there were 7,200 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia in the 4th quarter of 2014. The number of job vacancies decreased by 15.9% compared to the previous quarter and increased by 13.6% compared to the 4th quarter of 2013.

In January, imports were at the lowest level of the recent years

According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2015, exports from Estonia amounted to 920 million euros and imports to Estonia to 963 million euros at current prices. The previous time that imports were below a billion euros was in December 2011.

In 2014 the total profit of the business sector increased

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2014 the total profit of the business sector was 3.3 billion euros, which was 3% more than the year earlier. The increase in the business sector’s total profit continued for the fifth year in a row.
