According to Statistics Estonia, the average monthly gross wages and salaries in the second quarter of 2024 were €2,007, which is 7.2% higher than in the same quarter the year before. The median wages were €1,641 in the second quarter of this year and €1,524 in the same quarter of 2023.

Tea Vassiljeva, analyst at Statistics Estonia, noted that the unemployment rate fell by 0.2 percentage points compared with the second quarter. “The number of the unemployed was 56,300 in the third quarter, and it has been slowly declining since the beginning of the year, but there were still 1,500 more unemployed persons than in the third quarter of 2023,” she said. Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that food prices are the main driver of overall inflation, as food products have the biggest weight in the consumer price index. “The prices of food products decreased in September and October but started to increase again in November,” added Veski.
