According to Statistics Estonia, 440,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments in July, which is 4% more than in the same month of the previous year. The number of both domestic and foreign tourists increased.

Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, pointed out that the turnover volume of retail trade enterprises, which declined in August , returned to growth in September. “The increase in retail trade volume was mainly driven by enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel and also by stores selling manufactured goods. The turnover volume of grocery stores, however, continued to decline in September, falling by 5% compared with September 2024,” Pihlak explained. According to Statistics Estonia, in May 189,000 tourists stayed in accommodation establishments of Estonia, which was 16% less than in the same month of previous year. The average cost of a guest night has fallen down to the level of 2003.

“Last year, the average number of museum visits per person in Estonia was 1.9. The highest museum attendance was seen in Saare and Lääne counties, where there were respectively 4.1 and 3.9 museum visits per person. In Tallinn, the city with the most museums, the average number of visits per person stood at 2.9. Museum attendance was lowest in Rapla county (0.3), with modest figures observed also in Valga (0.7) and Viljandi (0.8) counties,” said Erik Lest, analyst at Statistics Estonia. According to Statistics Estonia, on the basis of the first estimates of 2010 Agricultural Census the number of agricultural holdings has decreased almost three times as compared to the last, 2001 Agricultural Census. At the same time the agricultural area has increased 8%. It shows that agricultural activity is concentrating more and more into larger holdings.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2011 compared to the previous year, the electricity production from renewable sources has increased by 13%. During the last five years the share of electricity generated from oil shale has decreased by nearly a tenth. At the same time the electricity production from renewable sources has increased eight times.

Last year, the quantity of commercial fish sold by fish farming enterprises increased by 45 tonnes compared with 2023. The quantity of farmed fish was in decline in the years 2019–2022 but has been rising again in the last two years. Anton Kardakov, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the increase in food prices has now reached the fish farming sector. “The average price per kilogram of farmed fish was up by 30% and exceeded 8 euros,” noted Kardakov.
