Since the first quarter of 2023, Statistics Estonia uses the data from the employment register of the Tax and Customs Board and the income and social tax declarations to publish the average wages and salaries. People working under employment contracts, the Civil Service Act*, and service contracts are included.

The total number of vacant and occupied posts stood at a little over 609,000. 50,365 persons were hired. 76% of job vacancies were in Harju county.

Sigrid Saagpakk, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that a smart TV is the most common Internet of Things device in Estonia, used by 57% of internet users. “The second most popular group of devices includes smart watches, wireless headsets and GPS devices, which are used by over a half (53%) of the respondents. Internet-connected home audio systems and smart speakers are also fairly common (28%),” added Saagpakk. According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2019, there were approximately 11,450 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This trend has continued since the 1st quarter of 2017.
