PHC 2011: the majority of Estonian population are engaged in manufacturing, trade and education

According to the data of the 2011 Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011) of Statistics Estonia, 67% of persons employed in Estonia worked in service sector, 29% in industrial sector and only 4% in primary sector.

At 00:00 on Saturday, 31 December, the eleventh population and housing census will begin in Estonia. In January, residents can participate in the census online, by completing the census questionnaire at www.rel2011.ee.
In the 1st quarter, the number of job vacancies exceeded 11,200

According to Statistics Estonia, there were over 11,200 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia in the 1st quarter of 2017. This is the highest number of job vacancies in the past 8 years. While in the previous quarter, the number of job vacancies reached slightly above 9,000, in the 1st quarter, the number of job vacancies increased by 24%.
The ratio of labour taxes in GDP decreased last year

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2010 the ratio of labour taxes in gross domestic product (GDP) was 18.3% and it decreased by a half percentage points compared to the previous year.

Today, on 17 October, Statistics Estonia and Enterprise Estonia launch the second stage of the Foreign Visitors Survey that started at the border crossing points of Estonia in the summer. The second stage will last until the middle of December.

According to Statistics Estonia, there were about 9,500 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia in the 2nd quarter of 2016. The previous time when the number job vacancies exceeded 9,000 was in 2008. The number of job vacancies increased by 15% compared to the previous quarter and by 13% compared to the 2nd quarter of 2015.

According to the second estimates of Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased 1.3% in the 3rd quarter of 2016 compared to the 3rd quarter of the previous year. The biggest contribution to GDP growth was made in the economic activity of transportation, followed by trade and the energy sector.
