Coronavirus and the ensuing economic crisis have affected the labour market also in Estonia. Since April, Statistics Estonia is publishing short-term statistics on changes in the labour market. Interactive charts give an overview of the current labour market situation on the basis of weekly data from the employment register. According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2018, there were approximately 11,400 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2018, the number of job vacancies remained at the same level. However, compared to the 3rd quarter of 2017, the number of job vacancies decreased by 10%. The number of job vacancies has exceeded 10,000 since the 1st quarter of 2017.
In November, the number of tourists who stayed in accommodation establishments decreased

According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2018, domestic and foreign tourists who stayed in accommodation establishments numbered 235,000, which is 1% fewer than in November 2017. Compared to November 2017, the number of domestic tourists increased and the number of foreign tourists decreased.

According to preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in 2009 the total production of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and in foreign countries amounted to 23.5 billion kroons, which is 28% less than a year earlier. The construction volumes which had started to decline in 2008 kept decreasing last year, too.

According to Statistics Estonia, the unemployment rate was 10.2% in the 1st quarter of 2013. The unemployment decreased compared to the 1st quarter of the previous year but increased compared to the previous quarter. The unemployment of young people aged 15–24 increased more rapidly.
