According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2020, compared to January 2019, the exports of goods decreased by 1% and imports by 9%. While overall exports declined, there was an increase in the exports of agricultural products and food preparations, and in particular, cereals.

According to Statistics Estonia, in October 2020, compared to October 2019, the exports of goods increased by 10% and imports decreased by 5%. Of the total exports, the goods of Estonian origin accounted for 75%. Exports to non-EU countries increased by 38%, while exports to EU countries decreased by 2%.

Jane Leppmets, a foreign trade analyst at Statistics Estonia, noted that growth in foreign trade in services was most affected by travel services and other business services. “In the third quarter, exports of services to EU countries increased by 8% and imports from EU countries by 4%. Extra-EU exports of services were also up by 8%, however, extra-EU imports were down by 4%. The latter was mainly affected by a decline in purchases of services from the United States,” Leppmets pointed out. According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2024, Estonia’s exports of goods increased by 5% and imports by 1% compared with July 2023. Exports of goods amounted to over €1.3 billion and imports to nearly €1.7 billion at current prices. The trade deficit was €321 million, which is €59 million less than in July last year.

According to Statistics Estonia and Eesti Pank, in the first quarter of 2021, the exports of services grew by 2% and imports of services by 51% year on year. Estonian economic entities exported and imported services for 1.6 billion euros. The imports of services increased mainly on account of growth in telecommunications, computer and information services.
