According to Statistics Estonia, in January 2024, exports of goods decreased by 11% and imports by 13% compared with January 2023. Exports of goods amounted to about 1.4 billion and imports to 1.5 billion euros at current prices. The trade deficit was 122 million euros, which is 60 million euros less than in January last year.

The rise in exports was influenced by an even larger increase in re-exports, which rose by 27% year on year. This was mainly due to an increase in the re-exports of transport equipment,” Leppmets noted. According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2018, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,242 euros, having increased by 7.7% compared to the 1st quarter of 2017. The year-on-year growth in average monthly gross wages and salaries was 0.2 percentage points higher than in the previous quarter.
