According to Statistics Estonia, in August 2018, the exports of goods increased by 7% and imports by 11% compared to August 2017. The growth in trade was affected the most by an increase in trade in mineral products (fuel additives, motor spirit) and raw materials and products of chemical industry (fertilizers).

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2013, over half a million foreign and domestic tourists stayed in accommodation establishments, which was 5% more than in the same period of the previous year. The number of both foreign and domestic tourists increased.

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, in September 2009 exports of goods from Estonia amounted to 9.3 billion kroons at current prices and imports to Estonia made up 10.1 billion kroons. This year imports exceeded the level of 10 billion kroons for the first time.

According to preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, the Estonian general government sector deficit was 3% and the gross debt level was 4.8% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2008. The general government budget’s deficit remained within the limits set out in the Maastricht Treaty.
