GDP flash estimate: economy contracted by 2.1% in Q1

According to Statistics Estonia’s preliminary estimate, the decline in the gross domestic product (GDP) slowed down in the first quarter of 2024. The GDP fell by about 2.1% compared with the first quarter of 2023.

Compared with the last quarter of 2023, the seasonally and working-day adjusted GDP remained on the same level.

According to Eurostat, the EU economy also picked up slightly in the first quarter, as the GDP of the EU grew by 0.5%.

Statistics Estonia will publish GDP data for the first quarter of 2024 on 31 May.
