HICP flash estimate: prices in October did not rise compared with September

According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists, remained unchanged in October 2025 compared with September. Compared with October last year, the HICP rose by 4.5%. This is a flash estimate, which will be refined once more detailed data on October prices are received.

GDP flash estimate: economy grew by 0.9% in Q3

According to Statistics Estonia's preliminary estimate, Estonia's economy grew slightly in the third quarter of 2025. Compared with the third quarter of 2024, the gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.9%.

HICP flash estimate: prices down by 1.2% in September

According to the preliminary estimate of Statistics Estonia, in September 2025, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), which includes the expenditures of tourists, decreased by 1.2% compared with August. Compared with September last year, the HICP rose by 5.2%. The HICP is a flash estimate, which will be revised based on the September price data.

Construction prices rose by 1.5% last year

According to Statistics Estonia, the construction price index, which expresses the change in construction expenditures, increased by 1.5% in 2025 compared with the average of 2024. The rising cost of materials was the main reason for the increase in the construction price index.

The average monthly gross income continued to grow steadily last year

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2014, the average monthly gross income per employee was 954 euros. Compared to 2013, the average gross income increased 6%. The growth rate has been at this level for the last few years.

The uptrend in museum attendance continued

According to Statistics Estonia, there were 3.8 million museum visits in 2014, which is 15% more than the year before. The number of museum visits set a new record.

Working-age people are increasingly more active in the labour market

According to Statistics Estonia, the unemployment rate was 6.6% and the employment rate was 63.3% in the 1st quarter of 2015. Compared to the first quarters of the previous years, the labour force participation rate was at the highest level of the last 15 years.

The economy grew in the 1st quarter

According to the flash estimates of Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia increased 1.2% in the 1st quarter of 2015 compared to the 1st quarter of 2014.

In March, the number of tourists in accommodation establishments decreased

According to Statistics Estonia, 188,000 tourists used the services of accommodation establishments in March 2015, which is 3% fewer than in March 2014. The number of foreign tourists decreased and the number of domestic tourists increased.

In March foreign trade increased

According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2015, exports of goods increased by 3% and imports by 1% compared to March of the previous year. The increase in exports and imports was mostly influenced by a growth in the trade of electrical equipment and miscellaneous manufactured articles.

In April, the annual change of the consumer price index was influenced the most by motor fuel

According to Statistics Estonia, the change of the consumer price index in April 2015 was 0.5% compared to March 2015 and -0.1% compared to April of the previous year.

Population decline is slowing down

According to the revised data of Statistics Estonia, 1,313,271 persons lived in Estonia on 1 January 2015 – 2,666 persons (0.2%) fewer than at the same time a year earlier. Negative natural increase is the main cause for population decline, while the influence of emigration has decreased significantly.
