Swen Peterson, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that herbicides are still the most sold plant protection products. “In 2025, the sales of herbicides totalled 632 tonnes, which is over 34.7 tonnes more than in 2024. In the second quarter, the total production value of Estonian construction enterprises was 995 million euros, including 617 million euros’ worth of building construction and 378 million euros’ worth of civil engineering. According to Statistics Estonia, 1,365,884 people live in Estonia as of 01.01.2023, which is 34,088 persons (2.6%) more than at the same time a year ago. In 2022, there were 11,646 births and 17,315 deaths in Estonia. 49,414 persons immigrated to Estonia and 9,657 persons emigrated from Estonia, therefore, immigration exceeded emigration fivefold.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the fourth quarter of 2023, there were 9,199 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This is 18.5% less than in the same quarter last year. A little over 7,000 persons left their job at the initiative of the employer.

Robert Müürsepp, team lead of national accounts at Statistics Estonia, said that the improvement in Estonian economy continued in the first quarter of 2025. “Compared with the first quarter of 2024, the GDP increased by 1.2%.
