According to Statistics Estonia, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Estonia grew 4.2% in the 3rd quarter of 2019 compared to the same period of the previous year. The Estonian GDP was 7 billion euros at current prices.

In addition to traditional registered marriages, there are nowadays more and more forms of family, such as cohabitation, single-parent family and blended family. Since 1 January 2024, same-sex couples can also get married in Estonia. According to Statistics Estonia, in June 2024, the turnover of retail trade enterprises was €866 million. Compared with June 2023, the volume of retail trade turnover fell by 5%.

The corrections are marked in red. Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that the rise in the consumer price index in January, both compared to December and the same month last year, was mainly due to food products, beverages, and motor vehicle tax. “On the other hand, the index was driven down by the sales on clothing in January and by international flights and holiday trips,” added Veski. Among food products, the biggest increases compared with December 2024 were registered in the prices of fish (31%), whole milk (12%) and fresh vegetables (7%)

According to Statistics Estonia, in May, the consumer price index increased by 0.1% compared with April and by 2.9% compared with May 2023. Goods were 2.6% and services 3.3% more expensive than in May last year.

During the population and housing census, information on the highest level of education attained by inhabitants of Estonia was also gathered and data were compared with that of other countries. Estonia has seen an increase in the proportion of people with higher education, while the share of persons with basic education has decreased. Estonian women are still among the most highly educated in Europe, and overall Estonia ranks 7th in terms of the share of people with higher education.
