According to Statistics Estonia, in June 2013 compared to June of the previous year, the retail sales of goods of retail trade enterprises increased 4% at constant prices. The increase in sales was mostly influenced by grocery stores, where the retail sales increased 4%.

The decrease in retail sales was most influenced by stores selling manufactured goods, where the decrease in sales slightly accelerated compared to the previous months.

Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that while turnover volume in June increased by 5% year on year, growth slowed down to 1% in July. “Year on year, turnover volume grew by 10% in enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel and by 3% in stores selling manufactured goods. The turnover volume of grocery stores continued to decline in July, falling by 5% compared with July 2024,” Pihlak added. According to Statistics Estonia, in February 2012, exports of goods grew by 16% and imports by 25% at current prices compared to February of the previous year. The growth in imports was mostly influenced by the increase in the arrivals of mineral fuels and transport equipment.

Johanna Linda Pihlak, analyst at Statistics Estonia, pointed out that the turnover volume of retail trade enterprises, which declined in August , returned to growth in September. “The increase in retail trade volume was mainly driven by enterprises engaged in the retail sale of automotive fuel and also by stores selling manufactured goods. The turnover volume of grocery stores, however, continued to decline in September, falling by 5% compared with September 2024,” Pihlak explained.
