According to Statistics Estonia, in July, the consumer price index increased by 0.3% compared with June and by 3.4% compared with July 2023. Goods were 1.7% and services 6.3% more expensive than in July last year.

Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that the biggest impact on the consumer price index in 2024 came from price increases related to food and non-alcoholic beverages, which accounted for 23.7% of the total index rise. According to Statistics Estonia, 21.7% of the Estonian population lived at risk of poverty and 2.4% lived in absolute poverty in 2018. Compared to 2017, the share of people at risk of poverty decreased by 0.2 percentage points and the share of those living in absolute poverty by 0.3 percentage points.
