From today until 22 January 2022, the e-questionnaire for the Population and Housing Census is open. Everyone living in Estonia is welcome to respond to the e-census. Only people who are included in the survey sample may expect a phone call or visit from a census taker if they have not filled in the e-questionnaire.

Lowest unemployment rate of the century in the 3rd quarter

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter, the unemployment rate was 3.9%, the labour force participation rate was 71.9% and the employment rate was 69%. The estimated number of employed persons was 677,300, which is 10,700 more than in the same quarter of the previous year. The number of long-term unemployed also declined.

Electricity production increased last year

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2013 the production of electricity totalled 13 TWh which is nearly 11% more than previous year. The electricity production from renewable sources decreased more than 10% compared 2012.

Results of the survey of Intrastat data providers 2014

Statistics Estonia carried out the survey of Intrastat data providers in October 2014 to measure the administrative burden caused by Intrastat and the satisfaction of data providers. The obtained data and collected feedback will be used in the development and simplification of the Intrastat report. According to Statistics Estonia, the unemployment rate rose to 11.4% in the 1st quarter of the current year. The number of employed persons decreased by 44,000 during the year.

Albert Pullerits prize

More than 1,600 people participated in the census rehearsal

At the end of last year and beginning of this year, Statistics Estonia carried out the main rehearsal of the Population and Housing Census. 843 persons living at 422 addresses responded to the test survey online. Interviewers collected responses from 785 persons living at 410 addresses. The test survey response rate was 87.5% and the received feedback was generally positive.

Immigration helped to increase the population figure

According to the revised data of Statistics Estonia, 1,328,976 persons lived in Estonia on 1 January 2020, which is 4,156 persons more than at the same time a year earlier. In 2019, the population figure decreased by 1,302 persons due to negative natural change, but increased by 5,458 persons as a result of positive net migration.
