According to Statistics Estonia, in the first quarter of 2021, the total production value of Estonian construction enterprises in Estonia and abroad decreased by 7% year on year. Considering only the Estonian construction market, the decrease in construction volume was 6%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the third quarter of 2020, the gross domestic product (GDP) decreased by 1.9% year on year. The GDP at current prices was 7 billion euros. Transportation and storage and manufacturing activities were the main contributors to the economic decline.

Economic growth in Estonia was broad-based. In the previous years, the growth was largely due to internal consumption, whereas in 2017, the growth became more broad‑based. The role of household consumption decreased. After years of decline, investments began to increase again as a result of improved economic climate, indicating a positive mind-set of entrepreneurs.

According to Statistics Estonia, in May 2017, compared to May 2016, the turnover of retail trade enterprises increased 1% at constant prices. For the second month in succession, turnover has shown a stable one-percent growth compared to the same month of the previous year.

Life expectancy in Estonia is 79.5 years

“In 1994, the life expectancy of Estonian residents was 66.5 years, whereas by 2024 it had increased by 13 years and reached 79.5 years. In both Latvia and Lithuania, life expectancy has increased by about nine years in the same 30-year period. Life expectancy is currently 77.6 years in Lithuania and 75.6 years in Latvia,” explained Eveli Voolens, the social statistics team lead at Statistics Estonia. According to Statistics Estonia, in November 2015, exports of goods decreased by 4% and imports stayed on the same level compared to November 2014. The decrease in exports was mostly influenced by a decrease in mineral products and electrical equipment.
