According to Statistics Estonia, the unemployment rate rose to 14.6% in the 3rd quarter of the current year and the number of the unemployed was the largest during the period after the restoration of independence in Estonia. The positive change on the labour market was that the decrease of the employment stopped.

83% of Estonia’s inhabitants are aware of the upcoming Population and Housing Census, revealed a survey conducted by the research agency Faktum & Ariko. The majority of the respondents believed that the Census was necessary.

Starting today, 15 December, Statistics Estonia will send out information leaflets on the Population and Housing Census (PHC 2011) beginning on 31 December. Statistics Estonia presents today, on 26 July, the publication "Eesti statistika aastaraamat 2013. Statistical Yearbook of Estonia", which provides an overview of the life in Estonia last year in comparison with earlier years and in other European Union countries.

According to Statistics Estonia, in February 2016, the production of industrial enterprises decreased 2% compared to February of the previous year. Production decreased in electricity and mining, while the production of manufacturing increased.

In 2017, there were approximately 158,000 economically active units. 3,000 units were added, which is as many as in 2016. Considering legal form, the picture looks different – growth in the number of companies picked up and the number of non-profit associations decreased for the first time.

According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, the production of milk amounted to 773,800 tonnes in 2015, which is 4% less than the year before. The number of dairy cows decreased by the end of the year, while milk yield per cow increased.
