According to Statistics Estonia, in 2011 the ratio of research and development expenditures to the gross domestic product rose upon a novel level – 2.41%, surpassing for the first time the EU mean of 2.03%.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2014, the number of passengers served by Estonian transport enterprises decreased by 2% and the freight volume in tonnes decreased by 5% compared to the previous year. Until Sunday 25 March (inclusive), all those people who have not participated in the census and have not been contacted by an enumerator yet can notify Statistics Estonia and have an enumerator sent to their place of residence. By Friday, more than 1,000 people had notified Statistics Estonia.

Thursday, 3 November is the last day one can apply for the enumerator’s post at the Population and Housing Census starting at the end of the year. For conducting the Population Census, Statistics Estonia recruits 2,000 enumerators as total.

The Farm Structure Survey (FSS) is conducted in Estonia from the beginning of September until 15 November. The results of the FSS, which is carried out in all European Union countries, serve as input for the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union.

Statistics Estonia presents today, on 26 July, the publication "Eesti statistika aastaraamat 2013. Statistical Yearbook of Estonia", which provides an overview of the life in Estonia last year in comparison with earlier years and in other European Union countries.
