Consumer price index increased in July
Goods were 6.6% and services 2.7% more expensive compared to July 2010.
Regulated prices of goods and services have risen by 6.3% and non-regulated prices by 4.8% compared to July of the previous year.
Compared to July of the previous year, the index was mainly influenced by a 10.8% price increase of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which gave a half of the total increase of the index. Housing expenditures gave a sixth of the total increase; alcoholic beverages and tobacco gave an eighth and transport gave another eighth of it. Compared to the same period a year ago, the price of sugar has increased the most (62%). It is followed by coffee (51%), apples (46%) and potatoes (45%). More than a 30% increase was reported in the prices of groats (39%), vegetable oil (36%) and flour (31%). Eggs were 19.5% cheaper.
In July compared to June, the consumer price index was mainly influenced by food and non-alcoholic beverages, which gave a third of the total increase. Sales of clothing and footwear, ending of the sales of alcoholic beverages which took place in June, and a 2.4% price increase of heat energy also had a bigger impact on the index. Compared to June, cabbage was 40% cheaper and strawberries were 32% more expensive.
