According to the preliminary data of Statistics Estonia, on 1 January 2023, the population of Estonia was 1,357,739, which is 2% (25,943 persons) more than at the same time a year ago. In 2022, there were 11,588 births and 17,245 deaths in Estonia. Based on the data on registered migration, 42,022 persons immigrated to Estonia and 10,422 persons emigrated from Estonia. 75% (31,594) of the immigrants were from Ukraine.

In January 2021, the consumer price index, which expresses the change in the prices of consumer goods and services, rose by 0.7% compared to December 2020 and by 0.2% compared to January 2020. Goods were 0.8% cheaper than in January 2020 and services were 2% more expensive.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 3rd quarter of 2016, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 1,119 euros. Compared to the 3rd quarter of 2015, the average monthly gross wages and salaries increased 7.1%. The year-over-year growth in average monthly gross wages and salaries was slightly slower than in the previous quarter.
The growth in the business sector has slowed down slightly

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 1st quarter of 2012, the net sales, costs and total profit of the business sector increased compared to the previous quarter as well as to the same quarter of the previous year. At the same time, the high comparison basis makes the growth rate slower.

According to Statistics Estonia, in February 2016, 183,000 domestic and foreign tourists stayed in accommodation establishments, which is 4% more than in February 2015. The number of both domestic and foreign tourists increased.

According to Statistics Estonia, in the 2nd quarter of 2011, the average monthly gross wages and salaries were 857 euros and they grew 4.2% compared to the same quarter of the previous year. But the real wages continued the falling trend, which had lasted for over two years and a half already.
