As at the end of last year, 232,400 cattle, 283,600 pigs, 49,300 sheep and goats, and 2.4 million poultry were kept in Estonia. The number of cattle fell to an all-time low. Ege Kirs, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, pointed out that meat production in Estonia was up in 2024 due to the 6% increase in pork production. “However, poultry production decreased by 3% and beef production by 5%. Sheep and goat meat production in Estonia remained very low at 400 tonnes. 42,100 tonnes of pork, 22,200 tonnes of poultry meat, and 11,800 tonnes of beef were produced,” Kirs added. Piret Pukk, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that Estonian residents have been travelling more in recent years but are still not making as many trips as before the pandemic, especially as concerns outbound trips. “Last year, the number of domestic trips was again over two times bigger than the number of outbound trips. In 2019, Estonian residents made 1.7 million overnight outbound trips and 3.5 million overnight domestic trips. In 2024, the number of trips abroad was 9% smaller than in 2019, while the number of domestic trips was almost back at the pre-pandemic level,” said Pukk

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2017 compared to 2016, the exports of goods increased by 8% and imports by 9%. In 2017, the exports of goods from Estonia amounted to 12.8 billion euros and imports to Estonia to 14.7 billion euros at current prices.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2015, exports from Estonia amounted to 11.6 billion euros and imports to Estonia to 13.1 billion euros at current prices. Trade has been declining for the last three years but the biggest fall occurred in 2015.

Piret Pukk, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that while Estonian residents have been travelling more in the post-pandemic years, they did less travelling in 2025. “Last year, the number of overnight domestic trips was still more than two times bigger than the number of outbound trips. Compared with 2024, the number of domestic trips decreased in each quarter. The number of outbound trips declined for three quarters and then started to rise again in the fourth quarter,” said Pukk, adding that this can be explained by the significant increase in charter flights, as shown by the data
