Eveli Šokman, the producer price statistics service manager at Statistics Estonia, said that, year on year, the producer price index declined in December after three months of trending upwards. “Compared with December 2024, the index was affected the most by falling prices in the manufacture of fuel oils and in electricity and heat energy production. Higher prices in the manufacture of wood and wood products, peat production, and the manufacture of food products had the opposite effect on the index,” added Šokman. In manufacturing as a whole, the index was unchanged year on year. In the manufacture of food products, prices were up by 0.9% in December.

Compared with November, the producer price index in December was primarily affected by falling prices in electricity and heat energy production, in the manufacture of fuel oils, and in peat production. The index was also influenced by price increases in the manufacture of wood and wood products, food products, and electronic products.

In December 2025, the export price index fell by 0.7% compared with November. The greatest decreases were registered in the prices of electricity, petroleum products, agricultural products, chemicals, and paper products. The biggest increases occurred in the prices of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, precious metal products, and metals. Compared with December 2024, the export price index was down by 0.3%.

The import price index declined by 1.2% in December compared with November. Prices fell the most for electricity, petroleum products and furniture. The largest increases were seen in the prices of metals, wood products and precious metal products. Compared with December 2024, the import price index fell by 0.7%.
