Wages and salaries statistics are based on data from: • the employment register of the Estonian Tax and Customs Board; • income and social tax declarations (form TSD). As of October 2023, Statistics Estonia deploys a more powerful RDP* research work environment. This allows researchers to work with all datasets over VPN, including those datasets that were previously only available on a secure workstation at Statistics Estonia.
The guide below sets out everything you need to know to log into the RDP environment, as well as all the rules and requirements for using the environment. The specifics of using Windows and macOS are highlighted separately where relevant.

According to Statistics Estonia, the average monthly gross wages and salaries in the second quarter of 2024 were €2,007, which is 7.2% higher than in the same quarter the year before. The median wages were €1,641 in the second quarter of this year and €1,524 in the same quarter of 2023.

The international Survey of Adult Skills (PIAAC), which aims to collect data on people’s everyday competencies such as literacy, numeracy, information-seeking, use of computers and information technology, as well as their education and work experience, begins today. This is the second time that Estonia has participated in the survey.
