From 2023 onwards, there will be changes to the questionnaire “Wages and salaries and labour force” (1462). The changes are related to the increased use of register data in the production of wage statistics. The data collected with the questionnaire will be used to produce labour cost indices and job vacancy statistics. Previously (until the end of 2022), this questionnaire was also used to collect data for average wage statistics. According to Statistics Estonia, in the fourth quarter of 2021, there were 11,103 job vacancies in the enterprises, institutions and organisations of Estonia. This is 28% more than in the same quarter of 2020. About 7,500 persons left their jobs on the employer’s initiative.

According to Statistics Estonia, in 2020, men accounted for slightly more than a fifth of the 34,570 persons receiving parental benefit. The average monthly parental benefit was 1,170 euros for women and 1,638 euros for men. The parental benefit gap was the lowest ever.

According to Statistics Estonia, in May 2022, the total production of industrial enterprises increased by 4.8% at constant prices compared to May 2021. Output increased in all three industrial sectors: by 2.2% in manufacturing, by 34.2% in electricity production and by 25.5% in mining.
The number of accommodated tourists was boosted by foreign tourists

According to Statistics Estonia, in July 2022, Estonian accommodation establishments served over 479,000 tourists, which is 26% more than in July last year. The number of domestic tourists fell, while the number of foreign tourists* increased.
