  4. Farm Structure Survey 2023
What kind of survey is it? The aim of the Farm Structure Survey is to provide comparable data on all agricultural holdings across the European Union (EU). Agriculture produces almost 100% of food, covers around 40% of the European Union’s territory, and takes up about 40% of the EU budget. The EU’s Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is the only policy the implementation of which is almost entirely financed by EU funds, and it must be based on specific input. Farm structure surveys have been conducted in the EU since the 1960s – every 10 years as an agricultural census and in the intervening

  2. Secure data interoperability between sectors
The aim of the innovation fund project is to create a framework for data interoperability between the private and public sectors. During the project, Statistics Estonia will analyse how to implement privacy enhancing technologies that would allow secure and much wider re-use of data between the private and public sectors.

Spatial data refers to data that are associated with a specific location or geographical area. The spatial data published in our database are mostly on county or municipality level. Many indicators are published at county and/or municipality level, making them valuable spatial data. Such data are essential for comparing the competitiveness and development of various regions and serve as a foundation for evidence-based policymaking. Spatial data help to create better strategies and make decisions that support the sustainable development and well-being of regions. Statistics Estonia's map

Last year, the quantity of commercial fish sold by fish farming enterprises increased by 45 tonnes compared with 2023. The quantity of farmed fish was in decline in the years 2019–2022 but has been rising again in the last two years. Anton Kardakov, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that the increase in food prices has now reached the fish farming sector. “The average price per kilogram of farmed fish was up by 30% and exceeded 8 euros,” noted Kardakov. Rainbow trout is still the most farmed and sold fish species in Estonia. The sold quantity of rainbow trout has increased steadily

  3. HICP flash estimate: prices down by 0.3% in March
Lauri Veski, team lead of consumer price statistics at Statistics Estonia, said that preliminary data from the harmonised index of consumer prices indicate that prices have risen across almost all categories of goods and services compared with March 2024. “Clothing and footwear are again the only exception, as their prices were down by 3.6%,” noted Veski. The consumer price index uses weights reflecting the average expenditure structure of Estonian residents, while the harmonised index of consumer prices also takes into account tourists and is comparable to the international HICP. The consumer

At the end of 2024, there were 2.4 million poultry in Estonia. 97% of these were hens and cocks, and the remaining 78,200 were other poultry. Ege Kirs, leading analyst at Statistics Estonia, said that egg production has started to increase again in recent years. “Last year, the poultry laid a total of 11,800 tonnes of eggs. The bulk of egg production comes from a few large farms, which are also the main contributors to production growth and decline,” Kirs noted. Last year, Estonia imported 12,700 tonnes of egg products, 71% of which were whole eggs. Exports of eggs amounted to 2,300 tonnes in

The first agricultural census of the re-independent Estonia will be conducted on 15–29 July 2001. The last agricultural census in Estonia was in 1939, the next will be on the basis of the recommendations of the FAO and in accordance with the practice of developed countries presumably in 2010–2011. The need for conducting the agricultural census in Estonia at the turn of the century results from the main trends of the development of the statistical system in Estonia approved by the Government of the Republic on 10 September 1996 (protocol No 61), the Regulation No 229 of the Government of the
